For thirty years the
Joseph Conrad Society (UK) has held an annual conference in London or Canterbury
where students and scholars from around the world meet for three days to share
ideas about Conrad’s life and work. Our 2005 conference was held in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, co-sponsored by the English Department of the
University of Amsterdam and co-hosted by the Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum
(Netherlands Maritime Museum), with additional support
provided by the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) and the
Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO).
